[BUG] Unexpected lines in cairo_threads example running on HiDPI display

Bug description
Running the
cairo_threadsexample from tag0.18.1(mastercurrently fails to build) displays unexpected lines between each quadrant of theDrawingArea:This was observed on a MacBook Air with a Retina display at 1440x900 and a Dell XPS running Ubuntu 22.04 at 1920x1200 with scaling set to 200% (Settings -> Displays -> Scale).
These "gridlines" do not appear on displays that aren't using HiDPI mode or scaling such as the MacBook running at 2560x1600 or the Ubuntu laptop with scaling set to 100%.
