Agree with everything to do with this proposal, besides the fact that multiple namebase employees or multiple people in a single project or organization should be disallowed. |

We do have a lot of coins locked, and this was by design. The airdrop was never meant to be fully claimed. This approach respects the interests of miners and investors. |

From a technical POV this is really two things:
IMO the first half of this is a lot easier to execute and its effect on the price would help inform how effective the second half would be. |

I'm glad to be considered to such list. But I'm against the proposal. We don't have $15 mi. Those coins were burned and their value diluted among the remaining. IMO, no matter how good is your intention, bringing those coins back could damage Handshake image and the market wouldn't have liquidity anyway. |

According to McKie, only the 890,407,839.90 HNS is truly locked:
That's still $12,190,641.04 we're sitting on, doing nothing with. EDIT: None of it exists: https://twitter.com/Steven_McKie/status/1816245381136802247. This is what happens when you refuse to join a discussion. |

Respond to this comment if you have an idea of how money (from any source) could be spent on Handshake. "bounties" is too vague. Even "marketing" is too vague. Pretend I have money and you want some. What do you say to me? |

Another opinion of mine. The 1 billion thing might be enough to grab headlines so ppl come here to talk... but if people are really concerned about the market, I think realistically we could actually hard fork and get out 1 million USD worth of coins or so (assuming the price doesn't crash badly?) as my view is 500k even, used frugally, can solve a shit ton of our current problems. Ive said as much on discord. My experience as a grantee is you have to be very smart on what you do, and its a can vs should, and we should NOT repeat mistakes of daos on using money b/c we have it, and spending too much. Some projects have done some truly stupid grant proposals and got them funded. Hard forks are hard for a reason, but I think the focus should be funding enough that gets the job done while being minimally disruptive. ...And ideally that will chill out people who are skeptical about it. |

Some things to think about if this hard fork happens.

I won't be discussing because I'm not code-wise, and I believe quality voices are not those who are able to talk the talk, but those who are able to walk the walk. This said, I voted in favor of exploring the idea. |

THIS PROPOSAL FAILED TO REACH CONSENSUS SO IT IS CLOSED
Naysayers are content with doing nothing, so nothing it shall be.
Overview
We have a LOT of HNS locked up, for no reason at this point. The developer airdrop at Handshake's launch was intended to kickstart the ecosystem. Four and a half years on, it's clear that failed.
890,407,839.90 HNS in airdrops and 188,346,476.73 HNS in claim rewards, making a grand total of 1,078,754,316.63 HNS (one billion). Using Coinbase's HNS > USD calculator, that comes out to $15,106,020.07.
This proposal is not a new idea. Chjango proposed the idea of a "clawback" at least a year ago and Andrew Lee recently shared similar sentiment in his proposal for Handshake V2.
Even if we ignore the claim rewards (leaving only the airdrops to clawback), why are we sitting on $10m+ and not doing anything about it?
These funds should be re‑allocated for bounties and proposals to help further the mission of Handshake: a truly decentralized naming system.
The major concern that most people have is misuse of funds. The crypto industry is rife with scammers and grifters so with this in mind, Jesse (Handshake Jesus), has proposed this list of people:
Few things to note:
The people on this list are trusted OGs in the Handshake community and have spent the past four years building on Handshake and educating the world on its merits and functionality. However, Handshake needs more enthusiasts and builders to join its ranks. A fund is a fantastic way to incentive such. Look no further than Nouns, Cardano, &c. Funding the community via a community‑owned fund.
What could be funded?
Excellent question. Here's some ideas:
