The Riemann helper is an advanced helper that approximates energy monitoring from power sensors. It's not meant to be commonly used, it is not something that is always required and surely requires some understanding from the user as its parameters depend on the use case and setup at hand. When you compare HA to other systems such as google, please keep in mind that google does not provide such an advanced helper as the Riemann sum, probably because of the reasons already identified, it's just easier to skip it then to deal with users. All said, thank you for the feedback, maybe you can add a sentence or two to our documentation that can help the next person down the road. If you are still struggling, please find assistance in our community forum as discord channels. |

I'll try again. I may have overcomplicated it. What I'm trying to say is
that the documentation is too technical and complicated for those who don't
know or understand the concepts. And lacks simple and understandable
examples. I have a plug that doesn't deliver kWh. and to get correct data
out I have to use Riemann, But I have no understanding of the concepts. I
have data in device. But they don't tell me anything. I don't understand
this. A simple description of what data should be entered where, along with
a couple of illustrations would help a lot. Documentation has to explain so
simply that I have the opportunity to understand this. I would be happy to
help with documentation, but since I don't understand this, it won't be
easy to do. And it doesn't help that something is explained in yaml. I
can't see program. And I have no particular desire to learn it. It's
possible that I've made the wrong choice by using HA. But that is on me.

About using Google. Was a bad example I can see. The point is. If the
documentation too difficult and technical (incomprehensible to me). I want
to choose solutions that work easily. esp32 is far beyond my abilities.
Bought atom echo. but they also have to be programmed. Don't want to spend
time on that. Especially when google works great. I like what you are doing
with HA and that the UI is starting to get very good. Same with the use of
sections in the dashboard. If you manage to get the documentation down to
my level, it will be very good.

Setting up the Riemann helper. The problem is that the information is too technical. In order to understand and use the integration, you must be familiar with the terms used. Something that I don't have. (I am a nurse). Without the help texts being written in a language and with necessary and good examples, the help texts are useless. Then HA will have too high a threshold for the normal user. And many potential users will give up the use of HA and find other systems where the threshold for use is lower. It doesn't help that HA is a more advanced and perhaps better program, if using it is too difficult. Among other things, I myself use google for voice control because it worked together with HA in a couple of hours. I can't get the voice control in HA to work. And I don't have time to try to make it work. And I have no interest in finding out. It must work and the help texts must be good and easy to understand. If not, I use what works.
Alternatively, it must be entered in HA so that energy understands and adapts to the values that the devices have without the user having to use helpers. That would be the easiest solution
