Hi @tobyhodges, we're unclear on what this one means.
One answer is to poll HPC Carpentry VTC attendees for how many are trained Instructors, and take that as the number. This item also appears under the list of things for The Carpentries to do, so, is this for us or you? Is the question how many Carpentries Core Team members could teach it?
I will distribute the link to participants of our "Breakout Session" at the CarpentriesConnect2024 in Heidelberg tomorrow. Also I will forward it to our "Support and Training" group at HPC.NRW. For the latter, many instructors at HPC.NRW are not (yet) certified Carpentries instructors (but some, including me) are on the path to getting there.
@mahermanns mentioned that they will be training up quite a few instructors (12 I believe) within the context of HPC.NRW, and this might be a good opportunity to hold the HPC intro workshop at regular intervals for a time using that instructor pool.
Once we schedule a set of workshops (particularly online), we can start attaching additional helpers to workshops and move them in the direction of becoming instructors.
