It's my understanding that fheroes' AI strategy was implemented with the idea of replicating a novice player's abilities. I think it would be interesting to see this employed in particular when against opponents that actually are commanded by a player.
A wild horde of rogues might attack in the traditional vanilla charge-ahead format whereas the very same monsters, when fighting under the banner of an actual hero or defending a castle, could use more intelligent maneuvers. This could better replicate how a "player" is in charge of opposing monsters in some cases, but wild roving monsters are simply neutral elements fighting without any serious leadership.
One wonders if something like this might also contribute to the discussions about autobattling.
