Is there something wrong with the new version python-snappy?

You should not have been able to even attempt to install 0.7.1, because you python is far too old. We support versions >=3.8
(actually I see 3.7 at https://github.com/milesgranger/cramjam/blob/master/cramjam-python/pyproject.toml#L4 , but certainly not 3.6)
