Selecting text by clicking and dragging does not work

I think this might be related to DND?

It's a usability issue on the desktop, anyway...

Reproducing:
Try to click and drag across text to select it.

What should happen:
The text should be highlighted, and right-clicking on the text should bring up a context menu including Paste and Cut...

What happens:
Nothing.

It's a prerequisite to allow dragging text from Chrome and to allow copy-and-paste from Chrome to work, so it's related and tentatively on my to-do list. But I haven't looked into what will be needed to implement this yet.
