@ionelmc, I have just rechecked the situation with #74, and the issue is still relevant to me. There is no none-any variant for CPython on the list of downloadable files: https://pypi.org/project/lazy-object-proxy/#files

While SETUPPY_FORCE_PURE does indeed work with setup-tools, this requires manually running the installer, which I would prefer to avoid.
