My setup it's actually:
Pi2 whit latest OSMC - Latest addons 5.5.0 alpha7 (but this is append at every version...also old version).

I have noticied this........ when i launch a video there's somethigs like cutted at very fist half seconds.
Apparently it's somethigs like some frame it's skipped or similar........... i don't have idea this if it's normal or not.
This append also if i start a video and step back to 0 seconds..... it's for skip the initial ads ?

Not seeing it on my pi2 osmc k18 nightlies, or windows k18 or k17.5. I do see jumping back to start on dash videos doesn't start back at 0 though, so I have reported that.

A little example it's that video (but it's an example because there's append whit every video):
Try to watch this on pc -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5t_9l57CD4o
The first words in the video are "La sentite la musica ? etc etc"

If i try to open this video on my OSMC setup the very first parts it's like to be cutted.... for example in this exact video i see the counter at "0:00" but the first words can listen it's only "Sentite la musica ?"
The first handful of frames is as if they were cut off or skipped..........

*Ah... i can give some other info about....
I prefer to not use DASH... i have it disabled.......... you thinks use DASH can be obtain a better result ?

On osmc the odd time I am noticing it(dash or non-dash), will look more into it. In my case it looks like it's my audio hardware not initializing soon enough. Will see if I can determine the cause as time allows, a busier than usual weekend coming up.

What I was mentioning in my last comment is that if you are using dash and step back to 0, it will not go back to 0 but to 5-10seconds instead. I've reported this but I don't think it related to the rest.

I make some test whit dash and whitout dash.....
Whit dash enabled the little issue it's disappears........ i try the same video linked above and, yeah, whit dash enabled i can listen correctly all words of phrase.
Whit dash enabled however there's present the other little issue about step forward or backward and audio it's muted for first about 5 seconds but i have read it's a dash issue resolved in some recent version...

Whitout dash enabled.... apparently all it's works instead the report issue similar to a much frames skipped at start of reproduction.....

The latest inputstream.adaptive(2.1.6) has fixed the issue. Can now seek and there is no muting, and you can seek back to 0 as well. It's included in OSMC nightly 17.8-125, 1 Nov 2017.

For the other issue you are talking about, I haven't been able to reproduce(other than the delay if my audio reciever isn't active). If you can provide a debug log of the issue it might give an idea of what's happening. It's not add-on related, I would suspect either player, codec or hardware causing it.

mmmmmmmmmm..... i thinks i can try. I thinks i can try to use the same video posted above how i can listening the first words cutted away :)

About inputstream..... i use osmc on a raspberry pi2 at today and it's have a 2.0.18...... right now i preferred anyway to not use it because sometime i obtain some problems on reproduction like continue buffering issue or similar instead whitout dash enabled i obtain a better reproduction if we exclude this little issue whit "frame skipped".......
Ah... i have a question:
Have you possibility to "test" this also on your Raspberry PiX setup ?

EDIT
Very strange... i made myself a join:
OMG.... i have found this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzf6Fp8GmYM

This is a muted video....... but it's contain a frame counter........ i thinks we can use this for see if some frames as really skipped away :)

Now i'm little busy whit other.... after "Napoli vs Manchester City" i can give to you some feedback :)

Apparently on youtube there's so many other video test... like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoeDZkGvvjg

or this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGgf_dbDMsw

I make some test..... wait some feedback :) I hope i can found this same video directly from search feature of addons and the newest Quick Search it's very usefull :)

EDIT 2a PARTE
I have time to make this little test........ i have open the first video posted above.... the white video whit frames counter this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzf6Fp8GmYM

Whit DASH disabled..... i have pause the video and step back to reach time 00:00 and.......... on screen i can view counter at "7"..... i can't reach the frame "0" (Zero).

I have retry whit DASH Enabled:
Same video opened.... make it pause and step back to reach time 00:00 but i can't but we know the problems fixed on adaptive 2.1.6 and on osmc it's 2.0.18......

At this point we have found possibly problems ? In all video the first 7 frames has been skipped away ?
Need to much test about.................

EDIT 3 PARTE
It's half time........ i have make another little test... in same channel there's other video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGt2EEpw6VA

It's a 60FPS Video....... i have pause.... step back to 00:00 and the counter on TV reports 00:04 and the fps counts it's not a 0000.
I can now report this little trouble on osmc boards.....

I have make another addiction test....... i have downloaded all the video from youtube and i have copyed the .mp4 on a my usb devices connected on my Raspberry Pi2.

I have start the reproduction whit one of this.......... step back the timeline to 00:00 and...................... DAMN... on screen i can't see the frames counter step back to zero but i can see the counter setted at "5" !

I have take some photo from my smartphone device..... look at here:
https://imgur.com/fhZG2D6
or here:
https://imgur.com/PtKR2nJ
or (if previously not work) here:
https://imgur.com/a/odJvU

What's appened ? At this point it's can be sayd this is not a youtube addons issue but it's a general issue whit video reproduction ??

If yes how i can check on my currently setup ?
