Can we run two Jamulus clients with Jambox?

Some months ago I build for our singer and guitarist a Raspberry 4 and installed Jambox on it. Even I never touched a Raspberry before, mounting and installing Jambox was much more easy than I thought. All is working fine with a Behringer UMC202HD sound-card and a fiber connection. But after having done rehearsals for months like this, it would be more convenient if we could have his voice and his guitar on separate tracks, like I’m doing for inserting a click-track or backing-tracks with Windows by using Rearoute or Jack for Windows.
So my short question, can we run two Jamulus clients with Jambox?

@Aerodrummer I was asked that same question recently, and yes it is possible.

To run 2 instances of jamulus client on same box, with a single audio interface:

1. the second instance needs its own config file, so make a copy: cp ~/.config/Jamulus/Jamulus{,2}.ini
2. start the jamulus client as usual with the "Jamulus Start" desktop icon.
3. start the second jamulus instance from a terminal window, using second ini file jamulus -j -i ~/.config/Jamulus/Jamulus2.ini
4. the "-j" argument tells it not to automatically patch jack audio connections (I assume you want to use different inputs)
5. open Patchage and connect the inputs you want to second jamulus instance. You should probably not connect the outputs because you will only need to listen to one feed from server.
6. edit the profile in the second instance to give it a different name
7. connect both instances to a jamulus server. It should show both clients.

The follow up question was: can the patches be saved? This has not been tested but I believe it should work:

1. follow previous instructions, set the patches to your liking.
2. while everything is running, save the patch configuration using aj-snapshot: aj-snapshot ~/.config/aj-snapshot/ajs-jamulus2.xml
3. set jamulus_start script to use the new patch set: leafpad .config/Jamulus/jamulus_start.conf
4. comment out the existing line: #AJ_SNAPSHOT=ajs-jamulus-stereo.xml
5. and add this line: AJ_SNAPSHOT=ajs-jamulus2.xml
6. make a script to start your second instance: echo jamulus -j -i ~/.config/Jamulus/Jamulus2.ini > jamulus2 && chmod +x jamulus2
7. Start jamulus using "jamulus start" icon, it will try to patch second instance,
8. Start second instance: ./jamulus2
9. aj-snapshot should automatically connect the second instance.
