My "Jamulus profile settings", not saved (?)

(First, a really neat thing, this Jambox! Thank you very much!)

I have not find a way to "save" my settings. Jamulus on a "normal" installation saves these settings more or less automatically, but that does not seem to be the case with Jambox.

Some of the "settings" are:

• My Jamulus name, instrument etc
• The "list of servers" I have connected to
• The "last client mix" when I reconnect to the band server next week, sort of

Any suggestions?

@johan-66 I haven't seen that behavior or heard it reported.

Couple of possibilities that I can think of, although neither seems likely.

1. Problem with SD card or Pi. Your Pi can't write to your micro SD card, due to a problem with your Pi or a problem with the SD card. The check for this is to write some other file and make sure it can write, and that the write survives a reboot. You can do this from the GUI via Raspberry menu -> Office -> ReText, then "save as" then exit and see if you can open the file later, even after a reboot. If you can't, try a different SD card.

2. Problem with the settings file itself. Jamulus can't write changes to that file, possibly due to bad permissions. This is unlikely, but the remedy would be to delete the file. From a terminal window (">_" on taskbar at top), type

rm .config/Jamulus/Jamulus.ini

if it doesn't let you, try "sudo" in front of the above command.

Thanks, that confirms "it should save the settings", will look into your suggestions.

I have upgraded to the 1.2.0 Jambox release, and used another SD card. "Now it saves as expected"

The previous SD card was only 8 GB (now using 16), I guess that might be a reason? (Jambox started and worked flawlessly on the 8GB card in all other aspects)

8GB should be big enough, Likely explanation is that the SD card is marginal - you could write to in in your PC when you burned it, but not in your Pi. Slight differences in the write algorithm and/or voltage might account for that.

My belief is that the smaller SD cards ( < 32GB and especially < 16GB) use older technology, so have slower read/write speeds, and are less reliable. I would also stay away from no-name brands. I personally use SanDisk Extreme 32GB even though I don't usually need the space.
