GFM syntax allows a few more symbols to be backslash escaped:

\!\"\#\$\%\&\'\(\)\*\+\,\-\.\/\:\;\<\=\>\?\@\[\\\]\^\_\`\{\|\}\~

than it is escaped by this parser:

\\.*_+`<>()\[\]{}#!:\|"'\$=\-~

Missing ones are:

%&,/;?@\^

Is there a reason for that? It generates incorrect HTML for example\, example\@example.com.
