ImageSearch

Search for scientific images using deep learning with [ImageSearch], the last packaging of pyCBIR:

  • image recommendation system
  • evaluation of feature extraction algorithms
  • user-friendly interface

Basic steps to run image searches on Ubuntu:

Using Anaconda (Recommended for performance improvement)

  1. Clone the project in your machine:

    $ git clone https://github.com/xdatacnn/imagesearch.git

  2. Installing Anaconda:

    $ cd /tmp

    $ curl -O https://repo.anaconda.com/archive/Anaconda3-2019.03-Linux-x86_64.sh

    $ bash Anaconda3-2019.03-Linux-x86_64.sh

    $ source ~/.bashrc

    $ cd

  3. Creating a conda environment to work with pyCBIR:

    2.1 Create conda environment with requirements:

    $ cd imagesearch/

    $ conda create --name <name_of_your_env> --file requirements_condaenv_ubuntu.txt

    2.2 Activate conda env:

    $ conda activate <name_of_your_env>

    2.3 To go out of the conda env:

    $ conda deactivate

  4. Go to the path:

    $ cd imagesearch/

  5. Run pyCBIR:

    $ cd src/

    $ python pycbir.py

Using virtualenv

  1. Clone the project in your machine:

    $ git clone https://github.com/xdatacnn/imagesearch.git

  2. Creating a virtual environment to work with pyCBIR:

    2.1 Install pip for python3:

    $ sudo apt-get install python3-pip

    2.2 Install virtualenv library:

    $ sudo pip3 install virtualenv

    2.3 Create a new virtualenv

    $ virtualenv <name_of_your_env>

    2.4 Activate virtualenv:

    $ source <name_of_your_env>/bin/activate

    2.5 To go out of the virtualenv:

    $ deactivate

  3. Go to the path:

    $ cd imagesearch/

  4. Install requirements (all packages that you need to run pyCBIR):

    $ pip install -r requirements_virtualenv_ubuntu.txt

  5. Run pyCBIR:

    $ cd src/

    $ python src/pycbir.py

Basic steps to run image searches on MacOS:

    2.4 Activate virtualenv:

    $ source <name_of_your_env>/bin/activate

    2.5 To go out of the virtualenv:

    $ deactivate

  3. Go to the path:

    $ cd imagesearch/

  4. Install requirements (all packages that you need to run pyCBIR):

    $ pip install -r requirements_virtualenv_macos.txt

  5. Run pyCBIR:

    $ cd src/

    $ python pycbir.py

Basic steps to run image searches:

  • Create experiment folders:

    • database/: contains 1 folder per image class
    • output/: contains outputs of models and search results images
    • query/: contains query-images = 1 folder with all or 1 folder per image class
  • Run main file to open user interface:

    $ cd src

    $ python pycbir.py

  • Need datasets? Download and test in your laptop: [Cells] [MicroCT] [GISAXs]

  • It will blow your mind and, with large images, your laptop memory!
