How to fix "This will create duplicate record" while creating Client

While creating client, I am getting "this will create duplicate record" Error.

There are 3 reasons for this error.

1. Client Name is same with another Client
2. Group Name is same with another Client Group
3. Client/Group numbering issue

Client Name is Same

Ensure that the client's name you have specified at the time of creating the client, is not exactly same with any other client.
We match 3 fields of client name to produce this error - first name, last name, business name. The error is produced when all the 3 field's value exactly matches with another client.

To check if client with same name exist, go to Client List and search for the Client.
Also check in the de-active clients by select "deactive" in the client status.

Group Name is Same

If you are creating Client Group too while creating the client, then ensure that the group name that you have specified, does not exactly matches with any other Client Group.

To check if client group with same name exist, go to Group List and search for the Group.
Also check in the de-active groups by select "deactive" in the group status.

Client/Group numbering issue

In a rare case, software can mess up the next number which is allocated to Client/Group.

To check if that's the case for your office, follow these steps

1. Go to Client List
2. Shift to Table View
3. Sort the Clients basis Client Number in descending order, by clicking on the "Client No" column heading 2 times.
4. Note down the first Client Number.
5. Go to Group List
6. Shift to Table View
7. Sort the Groups basis Group Number in descending order, by clicking on the "Group No" column heading 2 times.
8. Note down the first Group Number.
9. Go to Office Config
10. Client on Numbering Button (In Office Master Tab)
11. Note down the next client number and next group number

If next client number is same as last client number which you noted down in step number 4, it's client numbering which is causing this error.
If next group number is same as last group number which you noted down in step number 8, it's group numbering which is causing this error.

To fix this error, update the "Next number" and click on "Save" button.
Note: You will need Admin permission to make update the Numbering.
