A different open source project I use (ERPnext) uses this exchange rate API: https://exchangerate.host/ (or alternatively https://www.frankfurter.app/). Maybe this PR could be an inspiration? Also have a look at this older issue with a bit more information. |

Probably the best to get started without relying on external providers might be the API from the European Central Bank. This is a reliable entity that is likely to be around for still some time and which covers the most important currencies in the world (unfortunately no support for many smaller currencies). ECB currently supports:

I would love to see some simple level of support for other currencies; not necessarily multi-currency across a single user account, but to allow for an account to use a different currency by default. This wouldn't have to be concerned with exchanges rates etc; I just change the user account default currency to GBP and use GBP all the time. |

It seems everything is USD currency, however it would be good if assets, accounts etc could all be in different currencies. I have bank accounts and investments across multiple countries for example.
