Hey! I found that this works great. I have one problem, however, on toggle the .dark files don't appear (broken image). I tried adding the .dark files to my notebooks (at the end) and it works when I do that. But when I use ways to hide that markdown cell in which I do the .dark imports, I have the same issue. Any way to get around this? Thanks!

Found the solution. Simply include the dark versions of the pictures also at the bottom in a markdown cell with property height=0.

For example:

![](path/to/image.dark.png){height=0}

You could add the image as a document resources using resources key in your YAML to ensure to image is "uploaded" alongside your document, see https://quarto.org/docs/websites/website-tools.html#site-resources.

Thanks for posting this - I am sure it has saved a lot of people a lot of time. The only thing I can't get to work is changing the colour of geom_text objects using the theme - I have experimented with geom.text (didn't work) and strip.text to set the colour, but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Thanks for taking the time to reply and point me in the right direction. I'm still new to R and discovering new things. Taking the time to reply means a lot.
In case anyone else is wondering the same thing, adding this code as a final entry in the theme() call did the trick

update_geom_defaults("text", aes(colour = "white"))
