Aqara hub(s) will get update for Matter support (bridge) starting in December 2022

FYI, Aqara (Xiaomi's smart home brand) update will add Matter support (bridge) during this December in 2022 via an firmware OTA update for its Aqara Hub M2:

Aqara Hub M2 among other things can currently control over 40 of Aqara-branded Zigbee-based devices (and Xiaomi-branded Zigbee-based devices), in addition to some Aqara-branded Wi-Fi devices.

Note that the Aqara Hub M2 will initial only add bridge feature support to its hubs, (similarly to the recent Philips Hue Bridge update).

Aqara Hub M2 is also equipped with a built-in IR controller (InfraRed transmitter) as well as basic speaker used for alarms or doorbell chimes and not sure that IR controller and speaker will be made controllable over Matter as well(?).

Their announced upcoming Aqara Hub M3 will also have a Thread radio and feature Thread Border Router in order to natively support their upcoming Matter devices based on Thread/OpenThread.

Aqara have also stated that they will in “the following months” also update a few of their other hubs for Matter too, including Aqara Hub M1S (Gen 1 and Gen 2), Aqara Camera Hub G3, and Aqara Camera Hub G2H Pro.
