I used the 'two inverter' method and installed two modbus_sungrow.yaml files as found in the discussions around here.
had some issues with the Winet-S modules dropping offline - presumably due to too fast polling times,
dropped the polling down to 60s and cut out everything not relevant to my inverter (battery, phases, etc) and...it's been quite stable today!

Here, i'm tracking my 4 available strings of split face panels (installed back in March)
I have 32 panels in 4 strings of 8 and two inverters to make a 13.2kWp system
16 on a south roof (in Australia, that's not great)
16 on a North roof - but shaded in winter months

What i've discovered.....(well, what I knew already, but now can quantify)
my North roof is fully shaded up until around 10ish AM and then again about 4ish PM so I can only generate reasonable power then

what this means....(ignore the two spikes caused by me re-configuring)

Non-optimal positioned panels still produce useable power! -
The above graph shows my kWh solar production - Bright orange is my shaded north panels...dark orange is my south non-shaded panels!.
I'm producing barely 15kWh only a few weeks off winter solstace...
compare that to back in March when I produced nearly 80kWh

can't wait to see what I can make during the summer solstace!

@bleughb I would be interested in seeing your modbus_sungrow.yaml file. I have SG10RS and am also going through and cutting out all non relevant stuff. I've also found quite a number of registers are different from any of the example ones, if you have done any replacments that would be useful to work off too

Did you have the time to share this? I have config for SH10 and SG6 into one big file, however during the last update my SunGrow Modbus COnfig stopped working. I will spend some time on this during the next week, so we could make yaml-modules for each type SG and SH

I managed to get integration to work for the basic registers, but for this inverter (connecting via Winet S2 dongle with either LAN or WLAN), it seems that the more useful registers like daily export/import (via the consumption meter) are not readable via modbus.

I know the instructions inform to use the "internal LAN port", but I believe the SG5.0RS doesn't have an internal LAN port so to say - it does have an RJ45 port for DRM connection, and connecting it to a switch yields no results (no link, no ip).

I wonder, @bleughb did you manage to access these registers special registers?

To get a connection on the internal lan port you need to run a dhcp service which listens on the connected interface on your hass system. The dhcp server will assign the inverter interface an IP address. That assigned address must be on the same subnet as your local interface (the one your has runs on). You might be able to see the inverter interface asking for an address if you run tcpdump -i <interfacename>
as a cli command on your hass system. Apologies in advance if you have no idea how to set up a dhcp server.
Edit: on second glance at your manual page, my assumption about the cause of your connectivity problem was incorrect.
In the absence of a 100baseT interface, you could perhaps try an RS485 to ethernet bridge? but ive got no idea if that would actually work on your case.

Hey @spmatich; I had a bit of a further play. I'm convinced the RJ45 port for DRM is not an ethernet port and will never speak tcp/ip. But I think in theory I could connect up to A1/B1 RS485 interface to a TCP/IP converter to get it into my network. Anyway, that would all be unnecessary as I continued to play with the TCP modbus exposed via the Winet dongle (via WLAN and Winet Ethernet) - I managed to find this document and a newer version here that provides specific documentation for the SGx line of inverters modbus interface via the WiNet dongle. I successfully am able to now read necessary registers to set up Home Assistant energy monitoring dashboard - Smart meter total grid consumption, Smart meter total grid export, Inverter total generation plus instantaneous grid consumption/production values from the smart meter and instantaneous inverter production power:

Having previously built official intergrations (and some custom components), I am thinking I might consider building a Sungrow custom component via modbus for a simple setup for non-technical users if there's demand for such a thing.
