Recommend sungrow for best HA integration?

hi all - would you recommend sungrow inverter and batteries as working best with HA? I am about to pull the trigger on a new system and want to ensure it works with Home Assistant and has the best integration (to not just view data but control the system with HA)

I am looking at the new inverter and batteries announced late last year (3-phase hybrid inverter SH15/20/25T and the SBH100-400 battery series.)

The new SHxT has only been shipping in very modest numbers for a couple of weeks, I doubt there is a consensus yet regarding their modbus capabilities. I've read that there are still various limitations at the moment. They also come with a newer WiNet-S device, which itself might have different properties.
I'm not sure if the new SBH batteries are shipping yet at all. According to the Sungrow product management representatives on a German web forum dedicated to PV, they'll be available no earlier than Q3/2024.

If you can get your hands on either of them, you'll be an early adopter at best. More likely a beta tester.

The older SHxRT line seems to be pretty well understood at this point. It has problems with being accessed by more than one modbus master at the same time, but that can be worked around with a modbus proxy.
I'm not sure what other brands offer in regards to being able to control the device. I think Sungrow is at least "middle of the road"?

I have the SH20T up & running, there is only one Ethernet port anymore that supports both iSolarcloud connection as well as Modbus TCP.

Potentially it allows multiple Modbus connections (connection IP1 is the IP of my Home Assistant server):

Other than than the SHxxRT integration on this page seems to work largely as is so far.

I'm using the LAN port within the WiNet-S module connector. As mentioned there is no second LAN port anymore for Modbus on the new inverters. I have been reading & writing data successfully via Modbus already (e.g. Setting reserved battery SoC for Backup).

Thanks for the quick reply! Do you happen to know if Modbus works over WLAN too on your model? If it would be easy for you to test that, it would be much appreciated... but I totally understand if you're unable to. Our likely install location isn't super close to a LAN port so ideally we'll use WLAN (although I know that LAN would be better for reliability, and I might just need to push on my installer to do this and run a long LAN cable).

I'd say "do it" -- running cables is literally what electricians do. ;-)

So as I mentioned in your other thread already, I have it working via WiFi right now and this integration. I only have the SH15T but would not assume any difference to the 20 or 25T regarding the Modbus functionality via WiFi with the WiNet-S2
