Contributing to Uganda_cites_districts_towns_tribes

We appreciate your interest in contributing to this repository! This guide outlines how you can contribute to this data collection of Ugandan cities, districts, municipalities/towns, and tribes.

How you can contribute:

Adding new locations: If you find a location missing from the data, you can add it by creating a pull request (PR).

Include the name of the location (city, district, municipality/town, or tribe). Mention the district (if applicable) for cities, municipalities/towns, and tribes. Provide any relevant sources (websites, articles) to verify the information. Fixing errors: If you find any mistakes in the existing data (e.g., typos, missing information), you can create a PR to fix them.

Clearly state the error and the correction you're proposing. Improving the data format: If you have suggestions on improving the way the data is organized or formatted, feel free to create a PR with your proposed changes.

Creating a Pull Request

Fork the repository: Go to the Uganda_cites_districts_towns_tribes repository: https://github.com/mwikyo/Uganda_cites_districts_towns_tribes and click on "Fork." This will create your own copy of the repository.

Clone your fork: Clone your forked repository to your local machine. You can find instructions for cloning a repository on GitHub Help: https://docs.github.com/articles/cloning-a-repository.

Make changes: Make your changes to the data file(s) following the existing format.

Commit your changes: Commit your changes with a clear and descriptive message using git commit -m "".

Push your changes: Push your committed changes to your forked repository using git push origin <branch_name>.

Create a Pull Request: Go to your forked repository on GitHub and navigate to the "Pull Requests" tab. Click on "New pull request" and select the branch containing your changes. Write a clear and concise description of your changes in the pull request body.

Submit the Pull Request: Click on "Create pull request" to submit your changes for review.

We will review your pull request and get back to you as soon as possible.

Contribution Tips

Make sure your data additions and corrections are accurate by providing sources. Follow the existing data format for consistency. Keep your pull request focused on a single change or a small set of related changes. Use descriptive commit messages that explain your changes briefly. We welcome your contributions to this valuable data resource for Uganda!
