Bug description

Since 4226 has been closed and apparently fixed an issue, I have to open this as another issue since my Sync pending problem has not been resolved yet.

As soon as I open a Microsoft Work document (docx) the status immediately becomes sync pending and never returns to the sychronized state. Only if an actual change is performed and the document is saved then the synchronisation status becomes green again.

This behavior leads to the situation where every document you opened for the purpose of reading becomes "sync pending". Almost every user has numerous documents in sync pending and no one actual knows which document is "in sync" or not.

Tested with Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create Microsoft Office Document with some content --> Sync status green
  2. Close document --> Sync Status green
  3. Open document --> Sync status pending
  4. Close document --> Sync Status pending

Expected behavior

When opening a word document without changing anything the sync status should not get "sync pending". It supposed to stay "green" as long nothing is changed.

Hi.

My issue seems to be a duplicate of #3526

Hope this gets resolved.

Many thanks.

Thank you for your time in responding to this, sadly I do no longer have the logs. I found a workaround, however, which was moving every file from one directory to the next.

If I had “Documents” I'd make a new directory called “Documents-test”, move all files in there (thanks to Nextcloud being awesome this also doesn't mess with my shared folders etc.), let them all sync, then move all of them back, then it all worked again.

Not sure what it could've been, was most likely an error that was fixed by a later server update (I updated Nextcloud through several versions in one day)

@ErikUden Thank you so much for a detailed explanation. Btw, what was the last server version you updated to?
