Mentors

We appreciate your interest in joining Pares Ordenados!

The aim of Pares Ordenados is to prepare undergraduate students with the essential skills required to engage in more advanced mathematics by studying a section of a book or article.
It is not intended to be a research project.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Spanish.
  • Be a graduate student in the mathematical sciences, or a recent PhD graduate.

Expectations

Being a mentor in Pares Ordenados involves:

  1. Collaborate with your mentee to identify a suitable subject to study.
  2. Spend at least 1 hour per week to prepare the meetings with your mentee.
  3. Schedule weekly meetings of at least 1 hour with your mentee.
  4. Assist your mentee in
    • writing project abstract halfway the program
    • preparing their final project
    • preparing the mentee's final presentation
  5. Participate in the following events:
    • Introduction meeting for the mentors.
    • Welcome meeting.
    • Panel about Latinx mathematicians around the world.
    • Final meeting.
