rdfs:label "multi-ciliated epithelial cell"
definition "A ciliated epithelial cell with many cilia."
'has exact synonym' "multiciliated epithelial cell"@en
SubClassOf:
'epithelial cell'
'has part' some cilium
I think it reasonable to use this term for epithelial cells with multiple motile cilia that function to move liquids in contact with the apical surface of an epithelium.
Revised text def: A columnar/cuboidal epithelial cell with multiple motile cilia on its apical surface. These cells function in moving liquids in contact with the apical surface of the epithelium, e.g. mucous or cerebrospinal fluid.
EquivalentTo: 'columnar/cuboidal epithelial cell' and 'has part' some motile cilium and 'has characteristic ' some multiciliated
Dependency: pato-ontology/pato#562 (I would add the IRI to a PR and use it in the def & then merge once the term is available and imports can be updated).
Note - if there are serious worries about ambiguity of the name based on well documented examples of multiciliated epithelial cells that do not have motile cilia, we could instead split into two terms with a new term - 'multi motile ciliated epithelial cell' getting this definition.
With this in place, we should be able to get inferred classification working for the various cell types, linking the correct type of motile cilium in each case.
The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:
- Pato term (PATO_0010007 multiciliated) is imported into CL (note this term has not been approved by PATO yet)
-text defintion updates and references added
-logical defintion updated
