resource discovery only works on target compartment, and not child compartments

i wanted to use the resource discovery feature to move our tenancy from manually managed resources to terraform, but as it says in the documentation it will only get the resources for specific compartments, am i meant to run it for all my compartments with some sort of script and concatenate the files and also figure out a way to concatenate the state?
