In acient years, when human invent the text, the communication efficiency is improved vastly. And the human culture was accumulated and record in books by human text. Since the private assets conception is emerge from old tribes. Signature which show the personal text character be used in social activities.

In China and around culture, the finger print means your promise like a signature, and the king or emperor sign the edict with personal handwritten signature and the seal. Normals would sign with his seal in economic scenarios companied with finger prints or signatures. European nobles like to sign with quill and sealed with his family badge on finger ring.

So we can determined the signature means commitment or promise in most cases.
