White desktop background after update

Hi.

I installed a fresh Elementary OS 7.1 today on an Apple MacBook Pro 2015. After initial install all seemed OK.
There were packaged to update, so I did. But now after login the desktop is just white and stays white no matter which background image I choose.
Need help there.

It looks like as if a new kernel version got installed with the last update. Kernel version is now 6.8 where previously it was 5.x.
Could this somehow cause the issue on this laptop?
