Years ago I used to use ipxe on a Merlin router to chainload into this https://github.com/rejetto/hfs and it worked very well, other than the fact I had to swap the BOOT.WIM out to change the WinPE ISO. But the virtual file system (vfs) feature it has makes things super convenient so that you don't have to physically move anything and I think it would pair great with netboot.xyz for better management of local assets.
May try forking it/merging it myself if no one sees the benefit or wishes to, as I was able to get hfs3 running in a docker container, so I'm currently running 2 separate containers for this because the local file/asset management is just friendlier in hfs.
