In docker swarm ,requesting for only max of N service instances can be deployed on one node. This is supported in docker 19.03 and compose 3.8. this can be achieved using docker service update --replicas-max-per-node=20 your_service_name n in compose deploy.placement.max_replicas_per_node. kindly consider this feature request
