runtime exception on flask/global.py

When I run my code I get the following error:

You somehow managed to install the latest version of Flask without also updating Werkzeug. Make sure you're running the latest supported versions of each library.

Why is this not being discussed? If you google the error TypeError: __init__() got an unexpected keyword argument 'unbound_message' it is clear that this is affecting hundreds of open source projects, no one seems to know why, and there is no solution described anywhere other than to use an older version of Flask.

The solution is to upgrade Werkzeug as well. No need to use an older version of Flask.

I have the issue when using version 2.2.2 of both Flask and Werkzeug.

Please provide a full traceback and the output of pip freeze | egrep -i 'flask|werkzeug'

Running pip freeze | egrep -i 'flask|werkzeug' showed the correct versions of both packages. It turned out that my issue was caused by extremely old versions of Werkzeug and Click installed by apt in /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages being imported instead of the ones installed by pip.

Always use a virtualenv so that libraries you install don't interact with system-provided libraries.
