Releases: peazip/PeaZip
PeaZip 7.5.0
PeaZip 7.5 introduces new icons to better distinguish main archive types, and brings several improvements for archive management.
New features: extract everything in the archive (or in current path, or search filter) to correctly preview special file types (i.e. executables, html files, multi volume spanned archives), create new folders in existing archives, and option to auto close PeaZip after extraction if no browsing took place - useful in example to quickly preview a downloaded file and having the application to auto close right after extraction.
ZIP and 7Z default compression levels are now set to fast and runs over 4x faster than at normal compression level, with minor impact on compression ratio. This is only meant to offer speed/compression trade-off more fit to general purpose use, compression levels and compression presets works as usual, only the initial default is changed.
PeaZip 7.4.2
PeaZip 7.4 introduces GUI refresh, improves working with 7Z, ARC, PEA, RAR, and ZIPX archive types.
It is now possible to use new fast compression algorithms in 7Z format: Brotli, Fast-LZMA2, Lizard, LZ4, LZ5, and Zstandard are now available, providing faster-than-Deflate compression with better speed-to-compression-ratio efficiency.
PEA now supports multiple cascade encryption, i.e. AES+Twofish+Serpent, each 256 bit in EAX mode.
RAR archives are now fully read-write supported from PeaZip if Rar.exe is featured in the system: it is possible to update, edit, rename, and delete files in existing RAR archives, and more RAR-specific options are supported (set comment, lock archive, header encryption, set recovery records percentage).
ZIPX archives can now be edited, and it is possible to optionally use .zipx extension when creating non-Deflate compressed .zip archives.
It is now possible to repair ARC and RAR files, and even to attempt recovery if the archive cannot be opened for browsing.
7.4.2 update brings FLZMA2, LZ4, and Zstd support for 7z archives on Linux, improves file management, and provides fixes.
