How to know if there is an issue with the run

Debug commands:

  1. the command ps aux can give you details on how the run is doing when running an example of NATIG
  2. the command tail output/ns3-helics-grid-dnp3<Example tag>.log allows you to see if the run is progressing or not. If after 10 minutes there are no changes to the output then there is an issue with the run.
    1. Example tag options: -4G when running the 4G LTE example
    2. Example tag options: -5G when running the 5G example
    3. Example tag options: empty when running the 3G examples
  3. the command tail output/gridlabd.log allows to see if there is any issues on the gridlabd side of the system
  4. the command tail output/helics_broker.log allows you to see if there is any errors on the helics side. This file should remain empty unless there is an issue with the run

Steps when starting a new run

  1. Make sure to always run sudo bash killall.sh. If there is any threads that are still running when you start a new run then you will get an error complaining of duplicat federates.
  2. To make sure that you can start a new run, run ps aux before starting the new run. you should get the following output. This means that all the threads have successfully ended and it is safe to start the new run.
