Could not load file or assembly 'System.Threading.Tasks.Extensions, Version=4.2.0.0

Hi,

On Monday 17/8 I followed the steps to create an Azure function with PowerShell from this article: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/dev/declarative-customization/site-design-pnp-provisioning
And it worked fine.

But since Friday 21/8 I get the following error:
2020-08-22T13:21:35.070 [Error] Exception while executing function: ProvisioningTrigger. System.Management.Automation: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Threading.Tasks.Extensions, Version=4.2.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=cc7b13ffcd2ddd51' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. mscorlib: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Threading.Tasks.Extensions, Version=4.2.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=cc7b13ffcd2ddd51' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Yesterday, I tried it on 3 different tenants, and get the same error.

If someone else encounters this problem, I found a work around.
I was using PnPPowerShellOnline version 3.24.2008.1, released last week.
I now installed the DLLs from PnPPowerShellOnline version 3.17.2001.2, and it works fine.
This package was demonstrated in a community demo by Paolo Pialorsi in March 2020 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plS_1BsQAto). This package contains only 54 files, and not the System.Threading.Tasks.Extensions dll
The package of last week contains 157 files, including the System.Threading.Tasks.Extensions dll

THANKS!!!! Was beating my head against the wall on this one (got the exact same error), trying to use the latest PnP module. Downgraded and worked perfectly
