Article (and category) about the website itself

it has been circling in my head for a while that we could really use a small or medium-sized article about the web site itself:

• the history section
• the main sections, in no particular order (a few words + a reference to a corresponding article/s):
  • changelog
  • forums
  • beatmap info page Add Beatmap Info page #3122
  • beatmap discussion page
  • api
  • user profile (and maybe encompassing areas like friend list, or settings, or something useful)
  • beatmap search? this needs to reference a new article instead Add an article on beatmap search #8128
  • community events (just a very broad and general overview)
• whatever fits

this would help with article connectivity, allow us to move around and order some pages instead of keeping them at top level, and also tell the readers about some obscure functionality of the website. certain things like userpage or web chat deserve more attention (and perhaps also separate articles each)
