Version Information

Minecraft: 1.20.4
NeoForge 20.4.237:
Iron Chests: 1.20.4-neoforge-17.3.1.3

Report Information

After upgrading from 1.19.2 to 1.20.4, I noticed on my world that an importer for Refined Storage was no longer taking from an Iron Chest container. After going through a lot of isolation steps while trying to provide info for the Refined Storage team (post here: refinedmods/refinedstorage#3731), I found that it seems multiple other mods do not seem to recognize "Iron Chests" containers as storage units (I tried with Diamond Chests, Obsidian Chests, and Iron Chests).

I have tried this with Applied Energistics2, Pipez, and Refined Storage. Importers will work on both Vanilla chests as well as Sophisticated Backpacks, but will not work with an "Iron Chests" container when swapped.

I am not using a modpack, everything I do is just swapping out mods in my mods folder. Even when I only have Refined Storage and Iron Chest as the mods on a single player world, the issue occurs.

I will add that I did see this issue also happening with Macaw's Furniture, so there's a chance this is a NeoForge problem, but I'm not familiar enough with how things work behind the scenes to know.

I'm happy to provide any more details and would love if someone can confirm if this repro's for them on their machine.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install Minecraft NeoForge to version 20.4.237
  2. Add to your mods folder Iron Chests 1.20.4-neoforge-17.3.1.3
  3. Add to your mods folder your preferred latest 1.20.4 Pipez, Refined Storage, or AE2 mod to test exchanging things. I found Pipez to be the simplest if you are unfamiliar with these mods (https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/pipez/download/5478845).
  4. Start a single player survival world

-If using pipez-
5. Give yourself two Iron Chests
6. Place the Iron Chests
7. Try to connect a universal cable between the Iron Chests
8. Be sure to use the Pipez wrench to import from one chest to the other
9. Observe no items transfer (Observe trying this with two vanilla chests to confirm your setup is working there)

-If using AE2/Refined Storage-
5. Give yourself an Iron Chest
6. Create a functioning network with either of the mods
7. Try to use an importer to connect to the Iron Chest
8. Observe no items transfer into the system (Observe trying this with a vanilla chest to confirm your setup is working)

Forge Log

(Note this log was on my last run which had JEI, Applied Energistics 2, and Iron Chests, I can get logs of just Iron Chests and Refined Storage if that would help. I added JEI to help setup AE2 quickly)
