It would be useful in some CI scenarios to be able to run the
validate
checks without PDK needing tobundle install
first, instead utilizing PDK-cached copies of the various linting and static analysis gems to do the checks.The specific challenge is that if the module's Gemfile requires a gem with native extensions, PDK essentially requires a fully working build toolchain in order to run even static validations on the module, which seems unnecessary.
We should evaluate the use cases and it may be that we need to provide this mode as an option that people can opt-in or -out of depending on their requirements, or it may be that we can just make this change across the board once we are bundling multiple versions of the puppet gem with PDK.
