Error reading servers from file

Hi all,

I'm trying to run Gluetun on my Synology via Docker. I tried for hours both yesterday and today on both DSM 7.1 and 7.2 but I always get the same error:

ERROR reading servers from file: decoding servers: unexpected end of JSON input.

I tried to delete the container and the image multiple times but the issue doesn't go away.

I'm using the latest release 3.34.3 and tried already a previous one, 3.34.1, but the outcome is the same.

Hey I have been digging through the Wiki - it looks like we can run GlueTUN under a specific user.

Can you try adding the following to the 'environment' section of the gluetun container

  - PUID=1029
  - PGID=100

Are you seeing the servers.json being created in /docker/gluetun? If not maybe try downloading it directly and placing it in the folder.

It worked!

I tried the same thing in the past but I think I was on DSM 7.1 and put the file in a different folder. I still don't understand why it was not downloading the JSON file with the servers.

By the way, there was a JSON servers file but it was empty.

Great stuff - I will tweak the guide to include the PUID/PGID just in case that initially caused your issue to start with.

My issue was caused by my container volume's directory not having the correct permission. Choosing a new directory solved my problem but I imagine changing the directory's permissions would also fix the issue.
