I think it would be a nice addition to integrate the project home directory to save options throughout QGIS.

This would stop you from needing to navigate each time when using different functions. For example (see image) when you select the save options from processing algorithms.

I've come to write a similar feature request. In our office, we generally work with project-directories and are storing 80-100% of the data locally within that project-directory. Only about 0-20% of the data comes from a central, shared data-directory. Every time I work on a new or different project and would like to add a new layer/save exports or do other steps involving loading / saving data, QGIS presents the last used working directory. I therefore have to do many clicks to switch the directory and if I forget, the exports will go to the wrong project.

I would much prefer if QGIS would by standard offer me to search / save data within the project directory of the current QGIS-project file.

I don't think it's neccessary to specifiy a certain directory in the project file's settings. Please just give me an option for QGIS in general or at the project-level to choose between workflows. Workflow A (default) would be my usecase with data stored in /near the project file. Workflow B (I assume it's the rare workflow) is data stored in central locations away from the project file.

In Workflow A QGIS should open the file-dialogue at the project files directory.

In Worfklow B QGIS should open dthe file-dialogue at the last used directory (as it currently always does)
