Expanding abbreviations to number only references #26
Comments
@fxru was not aware of https://nws.uzi.uni-halle.de/scribal_abbreviations?lang=en before, it's mix like https://www.sanskrit-lexicon.uni-koeln.de/scans/PWScan/disp2/index.php was. @funderburkjim - now that is what one could call a good UI. We will get there one day. |
From the description of nws:
It would be good if we could fold such corrections into our PW digitization. |
I'll try to get in touch with them. |
Thomas gave me a contact. Let me try that first. |
Good luck. |
Got reply from Prof. Slage. Will see how it develops. |
What's next step? |
He's communicating with IT people, I think, and will get back to me when it is convenient. |
Any update @funderburkjim ? |
With a similar work done in MW by @funderburkjim, this "number only references" can be closed. |
@funderburkjim not all Mahabharata is linked and can we generate Ramayana links - I'll provide the targets with the help of Kate soon enough |
He has already mentioned this, and kept it on his Todo list.

Jim having mostly expanded the number-only references in almost all the (so far) linked target works, I would suggest that the issue may be closed now. So far as the Halle's NWS project is concerned, it is NOT at all about correcting the pwk digitisation errors, but to make an addl. annexure to pwk (using the post 1920 published works) as has been done by Schmidt in his work in 1928 (covering the works till about 1920); as such it has no relation to PWG in any manner. |

In
Ṛv. 7, 2, 8. Ushas 75, 7. Sarasvatî 2, 41, 17.
we can propose that both75, 7.
and2, 41, 17.
should beṚv.
. @drdhaval2785 do you agree? Do you agree that we can regex such cases to add at least metadata to number only references? The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:
