WorldDB is a curated collection of images, videos, and audio sorted by countries and territories of the world.

Motivation

I have a growing collection of images from every country, as part of a project I started in 2022. This media collection grew to the size of 30+ gigabytes in its first 2 years, and I didn't know how to better organize it, as I didn't know what to call the project. In 2024, I decided to collectively call it Seanpm2001 World DB.

The project originally started with gathering images of Ukraine during the Russian Invasion of Ukraine, but soon spread to include every country on Earth, current and former, and later, planets and galaxies.

My collection currently consists mostly of Wikimedia/Wikipedia images and video, but contains data from other sources as well. It isn't organized very well at the moment.

When starting to create the repositories for WorldDB, I was hoping I would have the time to document the structure of the countries listed by using their ISO 3166-2 codes. So far, I have not gotten around to it yet.

Abkhazia (breakaway state of Georgia)

Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (independent state that was taken over and occupied by the Russian Federation)

🌏️ Oceania is a grouping of countries. It consists of the island/country of 🇦🇺️ Australia along with all of the islands in Polynesia, Micronesia, Melanesia, and Australasia, and any island country that is not associated with a country on the other 6 continents. Some people simply refer to this as Australia, but I feel Oceania is a better definition. Oceania is a definition that is more common outside of the English-speaking world, and due to how I initially discovered the term in geography, I chose Oceania.
