Thank you. Downloaded it and set to "fan_min" : 1, the lowest possible speed is 1400 now. Better, but over 1800@20 not much really. Is it some kind of limit, or maybe we would need to extend the first step of graph, which is from off to 1800? It seems the profile is set to 01 though i'm not sure because in power user settings there is no description of this line |

@FliesQQ values that is being set look correct and along the fan curve. You have mentioned that fans take time to spin up, most probably it’s slightly lagging because of that. Cause, as I understand, temps jump quickly in your testing :) |

Yes, the temperature changes too quickly and the fan responds too slowly. If the temperature fluctuates, it is possible that the temperature has risen, but the fan speed setting is still at the low temperature speed. |

@FliesQQ you can tackle that with a fan curve :) rise it to higher RPMs a bit faster P.S. I have also updated build in the header-message, now it will refresh speeds once every 500ms (so twice more frequent) |

Before this update it was impossible for me to set a custom fan curve because of the bios rejecting it, now I can finally set the one I want! Thank you so much! EDIT: My Laptop is TUF A15 with an RTX 3050 |

Here you go. I've included my HWiNFO graphs too, in case it helps. GPU seems to hit ~71c and then jumps to 5000RPM, despite the 70c point being 4200RPM and 75c being 4600RPM. CPU doesn't seem right either. |

The frustrating thing is that if I disable the custom fan curve, the fans then run slower - e.g. the GPU fan won't then jump to 5000rpm as soon as it hits 70c. |

@Summersoff then it's just a BIOS idiot-protection, which is actually ... good :) I have similar behavior on my ROG Ally. It would keep fans off until something like 55-60C and then no matter what app sets to it - will ramp them up. |

Yeah. Such a shame. The stock balanced fan curve isn't aggressive enough - whilst the manual fan curve gets overridden and then becomes OTT. I really need a balance in between. |

@manciuszz they do :) because one main complains that people accuse G-Helper of - is that fans are "slow" to react and "don't follow curve precisely" (even though when fans are controlled by BIOS it's absolutely not related to the app) I can add a hysteresis in a form of calculating an average of CPU / GPU temps for last 3 or 5 seconds, instead of acting immediately |

That would be a nice to have. Preferably, hysteresis could be adjustable by the user, that would allow the user to set their preference whether they want faster reaction times or more stable fan speeds. I personally don't hear the fans because I'm wearing a headset, but I don't think the fans should be whooshing up and down that often either xD |

@ElluIFX since it shows 0% in red label, this is what app actually sets as fan speed. As I mentioned in other comment here, it is possible that BIOS would override that as an idiot-protection if CPU is too hot for it's thinking. |

Currently I have set min fan speed to be 25% and max 100% correspondingly (for most laptops 25% would be 1800-2000RPM) Theoretically i can allow even 1% in manual mode, but i'm not sure if it's healthy for the fans ... |

Recently i use my G14 almost only PDF and Powerpoint reading, so light, lang battery life and quiet are much important. Maybe i should buy Macbook Air M3...But now G14 works also very well. |

I bought my laptop in 2019, and Armory Crate didn't allow me to make manual fan adjustments. Since then, I've been researching for a solution every few months. Then I found you and have been using your software, constantly checking for updates, but I still couldn't find a solution for fan adjustments... until today. It's working perfectly now, and your software allows me to make manual fan adjustments. My device is ASUS TUF 506LI. I think the only thing left for me is one setting; being able to undervolt directly on my device without the ThrottleStop application. |

When I completely shut down the fans, I occasionally encounter a blue screen error. On the blue screen, I see an error code like 'fail tdr'. Prior to the blue screen, there are black screens resembling the graphics card attempting to restart itself, followed by the blue screen error. I don't think it's due to overheating because I monitor the temperatures and they usually hover around 50-60 degrees. |

I've set the fans to 1800rpm and never encounter a blue screen, but sometimes, when I turn off the fans, it gives a blue screen error at an uncertain time. To make sure, I formatted the computer and installed Windows 11. I've installed all drivers and will test it. |

@hadixcanimm well, apparently something is overheating then :) it may be not CPU or GPU directly, but something on the motherboard itself or so (w/o own temperature sensor). And running fans apparently keep it in a good condition probably :) |

@l-naumann ok. Problem is that different models seem to have different minimum fan speed (and corresponding fan % setting that triggers that) . At first my idea to mimic asus own fan curves, where 0% = OFF, and 1% = is usually something like 1800RPM (or around 25% of max speed), so people will not have to re-edit their fan curves when they switch. Reality is more complicated than it is. Also there is some deviations from actual set value (in %) and real fan speed often. On my G14 2022 20% setting = 25% speed, but from what I have seen here sometimes deviation reaches up to 15% in total ... :| |

@seerge I see. Maybe the automatic calibration could identify when fans start spinning by increasing fans in 1% steps, starting at 0%. When fans start spinning, add 1-2% as a safety margin and set it as new min percentage. |

Hi! Thanks for this package. I'll keep it on hand as a last resort. Would you happen to know which driver is responsible for the GPU fan sensor reading? I'm having a very annoying issue where the system (randomly) stops detecting the speed and displays 0 rpm, but then the fan ramps up to 100% and it's noisy af. |

@jimmygervais-net hello. There is no such thing as a "driver responsible for fan sensor reading". All fan speeds are reported directly from BIOS (via special layer called Asus System Control Interface or even directly). If it randomly shows 0RPM instead of real one, it's just probably a faulty sensor, not the driver. |

Hi, i have 2 Questions: 1.) could you please update the build to the newest preview version cause i am using the G14 2024 :) 2.) is it possible to add the option (via config.txt) to disable the saftey steps on the right of the fan-curve? I am tinkering around and trying to see how much performance i can get out of it with nearly silent system. And also the system has a saftey turn-off at max temperature anyway.

It's already updated to latest final release (i.e. 0.173)

1.) Ok fair enough to only do the major releases for this experimental build :) Can you please do the 0.176 Version so i can use the new features for the G14 2024 2.) I understand what you mean, i am IT sysadmin myself and know what i am doing. Its just that i love tinkering around and love very silent devices. I already brought down the gpu tdp to the 30W min and thats why i would like to see how low i can get with the fancurve and without throttling. The thing is that the cooling efficiency between like 1500rpm and 3000rpm is nowhere near doubled cause of other factors but the noise and whine of the fan certainly is more that doubled. Thats why i would happily sacrificy a lil of performance for a near silent device. So if you change your mind and implement a hidden switch without this block let us know, thanks and keep up the good work |

@seerge Thanks Serge now I am using your experimental version, it seems to work well but there seems to be some inaccuracy. So I tried also AsusFanControl which has only 1 control to set % of the fan speed. When I set it to 100%, the fan speed is much faster. I think 5300 or 5800. I have to check. But using your tool and monitoring the CPU temps using Speccy, the graph doesn't seem to set the right RPM for the fans. It shows the highest RPM as 5800. Is this accurate? Do you detect this using the hardware or it's just some hardcoded value? Because GHelper shows me ~4200 RPM at over 86C. I set anything over 79 to use max RPM just to test. So not sure if I am doing something wrong. I was expecting the max RPM based on my graph. Thanks a lot in advance. |

Yes I understand, so not sure where the difference comes from because I am using the same laptop for both apps. In your RPM readings, you still use 1 RPM precision? Because yours show 4200 but AFC shows values like 4225. When I set AFC to 100%, yours show for example 4600 but AFC shows 4687. So even in reading the current RPM there are differences. But I am very sure there is some bug in this app because when I click calibrate, I can see in your app the RPM reports 4600 and the increased noise level matches it. But in the graph, it's not really applying the correct 100%. Because after calibrate it goes down to 4200. So then how come the max speed of calibrate is different than max speed of the graph? Also by that token shouldn't the RPM values shown in the graph adjusted to the max RPM? For example I would have expected the max to be capped at 4600 or so, but still it shows 5800. But if you think it's working fine, then it's ok :) |

@orionflame G-Helper uses 100RPM sensor (designated for AC). So 4200 vs 4225 seems fine and just a result of rounding from that sensor. When you calibrate it sets both CPU and GPU fans to 100% speed - so you get 4600 (which is probably your maximum speed) When you run fans normally - as i see only CPU fan is being set to 100% , while GPU is 35% cause GPU temp is 53C..54C (red label shows what app has set last). It could be that BIOS overrides that when only one fan is maxed out. Try to set both fan curves to 100% Also if you want both fans to follow only CPU temp you need to add following line to the beginning of |

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here, or if my expectations are just wrong. I have the curve for CPU/GPU as shown, and the CPU & GPU fans are both running at 3500 RPM despite them both being under the threshold I have set (so they should be at 2600RPM). |

@RainofTerra for different models firmware interprets fan speed percentage differently. Currently app assumes that
All RPM values on Y-axis are calculated linearly between 1500 and maximum RPM I may extend In the meantime, try to add following line to That would set minimum fan speed in % to 0 (instead of default 20%). This should make RPM values on Y-Axis more accurate for you. |

The recent versions broke G732LXS CPU reading Not sure if it breaks anything else because of it. I believe 0.177 and below versions still works fine (CPU temp reading wise). |

I can confirm it's due to SAIO driver being disabled. I re-enabled it and it seems to work now I guess you could add a notification upon checking SAIO driver running status? I clearly had it disabled, cause it didn't seem mandatory. Versions 0.175 and below I believe in this experimental build never required it xD or it was a misunderstanding on my part and I had SAIO enabled at some point that went unnoticed :/ |

Its fine. I can't deem this as an app issue either cause it was my fault to begin with. Though I was completely unware that this build requires SAIO driver, otherwise this wouldn't have happened either :D Anyways, thanks for the fast help, glad it was resolved quickly cause I like this experimental build more than official ones. |

Have you considered putting it behind a warning in the UI, or making enabling it a json config and not in the UI? I really like it but I understand why you might not want it to be the out of the box default, but I also don't want you to have to maintain two versions forever 😂 |

Hi, I was using this build for a while but I got prompted by a new update so I clicked yes to download it but now I lost this functionality. So I went back to download it but now it doesn't seem to work. fan speeds show 0 RPM even in calibration. I guess I have to restart my system? Not sure why this might happen because your app shows 6 running ASUS services. |

I have completely uninstalled Armoury in the above direction , but still continue to have this problem, I remembered that recently the system bios version was automatically upgraded from 315 to 316 via windows update, could this be the cause? |

@Githuggerr could be, cause it's either app doing that (if you have no asus processes in windows Task Manager running, i can assume it's not the case) or BIOS itself. Try to experiment with actual fan curve, keep it not that flat :) may be that will make your BIOS more happy then. |

i clicked on the stop services button but after i reinstalled the asus system controll driver it restarted the services. i thought that maybe there is a way to delete those unnecessary asus services. |

Hello fellow community,
Recently I have discovered a way to directly set fan speed in percentage points for each fan individually.
It uses same method as MyASUS does when runs your "fan testing".
In existing and standard way to set a "custom" fan curve - fan behavior would be still handled by BIOS and follow it's internal algorithm. This BIOS algorithm is different for different models, sometimes includes a very high hysteresis (delays before acting), can override some custom fan behavior, etc.
In "alternative" approach, it's possible to actually literally manually set fan speed every second based on temperature readings.
This build implements "manual" fan control as soon as you check
Apply Custom Fan Curve, when you uncheck it - fan behavior will be returned back to BIOS.Current implementation details
Potential downsides and risks
Please test on your own risk (!) and only as a last resort in case you can't achieve desired fan behavior otherwise
