[Feature]: Remember image zoom-in state after stopping #3910
Comments
@mtdvlpr, @sircharlo, I think this use case is focused more on the desire to eliminate black bars. Perhaps would it be possible to add a "Fill" setting for displaying images somewhere in the settings? This could allow detecting images with non-16:9 aspect ratios and automatically applying the 'fill' display mode instead of 'fit' for those. While this approach might work well in many cases, some images with unusual crops might still require manual adjustments. A quick example I can think of is the intro image for the Live Forever book – it’s very wide, and you can’t directly zoom in to get rid of all the black bars while keeping everything in focus. This way, normal occasional zooming wouldn’t be affected for most users, while still giving us nerds who go an extra mile an extra option to display images without black bars. From my experience, zooming in is very situational. Yes, we sometimes have to display the same image, but as I recall, we never had to return to the same zoom-in point a second time. However, in the context of setting everything to eliminate black bars, this approach makes sense. But for sure, there are countless congregations and approaches. |
Remove black borders when presenting images: |
Yeah I agree with this. I did even more layout testing in Figma but still, having black bars on the back display is way better than have a 'dirty' background that distracts from the image. |
Hi @dagandrew and thanks for the feedback. As mentioned in the issue linked to by @e-Feitosa, the images provided for meetings fit the 16:9 aspect ratio in most cases. If a local or visiting speaker's images are in an aspect ratio that is distracting, perhaps the best thing to do would be for the speaker himself to find images that are more suited for viewing on televisions. As for images from publications like bt that don't fit that aspect ratio, they can be zoomed-in live as needed by the AV operator. I don't think we'll implement remembering zoom state for the moment, unless something changes in the future. |
Is your feature request related to a problem?
I know that it is not often, but sometimes there is a need to show the picture again after showing it once zoomed in. And after stopping it returns to unzoom state and you need to zoom in again.
Describe the solution you'd like
Remember the zoomed state throughout all session
Describe alternatives you've considered
it would be nice if you set up it the days before and you open the app and everyting is ready. I zoom in because there are often black lines and I zoom in just a little to hide them.
