Describe the bug
Shutting down the dmsg.Server is sometimes erratic. In most cases, if the server has a significant amount of open connects, it may take up to a minute to shutdown the server with CTRL+C. In some cases, it does not work at all and requires multiple cancellation signals. This may indicate a larger issue with the dmsg.Server logic.

Environment information:

  • encountered both in the kubernetes cluster as well as on Ubuntu 18.04. manual deployment without systemd etc

Steps to Reproduce
Reproduction may require to put the server under significant load. I was able to encounter the issue with about 100 connections. Maybe less are required and it is just easier to reproduce with more load.

Additional context

  • we have two further issues which may or may not be related to this ticket
  1. The dmsg servers consume a lot of memory when under load
  2. The dmsg servers stop working every few weeks when in production
