Contributing to SnowFS

👍🎉 First off, thanks for taking the time to contribute! 🎉👍

The following is a set of guidelines for contributing to SnowFS. These are mostly guidelines, not rules. Use your best judgment, and feel free to propose changes to this document in a pull request.

I don't want to read this whole thing, I just have a question!!!

If you are a software developer👷, an artist 🧑‍🎨, someone who is working for a DCC software, or if you are simply interested in this project, we would love to connect with you!

I don't want to read this whole thing I just have a question!!!

Reporting Bugs

If you found an issue, please report an issue.

Note: If you find a Closed issue that seems like it is the same thing that you're experiencing, open a new issue and include a link to the original issue in the body of your new one.

Your First Code Contribution

Unsure where to begin contributing to SnowFS? You can start by looking through beginner and help-wanted issues:

  • [Beginner issues][beginner] - issues which should only require a few lines of code, and a test or two.
  • [Help wanted issues][help-wanted] - issues which should be a bit more involved than beginner issues.

Both issue lists are sorted by total number of comments. While not perfect, number of comments is a reasonable proxy for impact a given change will have.

Pull Requests

Please follow these steps to have your contribution considered by the maintainers:

  1. Follow all instructions in the template
