@pllim it's been a while since we updated this repo, I'm not sure of the status for its recommended use and advertising.

do you have any recent useful information on its use?

I don't really maintain this template anymore. I still think we don't have to roll our own template. There are so many templates out there already, e.g., OpenAstronomy, pyOpenSci, Scientific Python, and so on.

That's a good point. There are a bunch of existing references and links to this repo in documentation and standards repos, so I can go through those and remove them, if we don't want to use this anymore (I'm not sure anyone has recently).
