Any getting started examples (that work)?

Are there any simple working examples which for getting started? It seems all the simple examples no longer work.

I'm trying to edit markdown in Astro and I'm new to React, so a complex example (like https://github.com/steven-tey/novel/blob/main/apps/web/components/tailwind/editor.tsx) is hard to disentangle.
