For format, I think most people prefer mp3 ( at least that's what i prefer because i can move it everywhere and everything supports mp3 ). And about yt-dlp, yes it would be cool if you can raise a pr to have option to choose between youtube-dl or yt-dlp. but even now, if you just alias yt-dlp to youtube-dl it is supposed to be working
