Prevent breaks <br> after each paragraph <p>

In a table cell a break <br> is automatically created after each paragraph <p>. Is there a way to prevent the output of breaks?

Frontend output in the browser:

The breaks only appear in frontend but not in the backend of Contao.

Workaround with CSS:

p + br {
    display: none;
}

But that cannot be the solution.
