[RESOLVED] Mechatronics 5015 Fan on SKR2 Not Working

Hi!
Could not for the life of me get my Mechatronics part cooling fan to work on my SKR2.
Ended up oscilloscoping my old SKR1.4 and figured out that it ran 50Hz PWM.
Changed the fw for my SKR2 to also run 50Hz, and now it works fine.
Just a tip :)

What's the exact model number of your fan?

Which fan PWM setting did you change?

The fan is a B5015E24B-BSR.
Changed the define FAST_PWM_FAN_FREQUENCY to 50 in Configuration_adv.h

FAST_PWM_FAN/FAST_PWM_FAN_FREQUENCY is not used in these configs so are you sure you used this fork and not something else?

You can revert the FAST_PWM_FAN changes in your copy. I've enabled FAN_SOFT_PWM and reduced FAN_MIN_PWM from 80 to 30 to allow for a larger fan speed range.

I'll go through and test the rest of the board/fan combinations that I can soon.

Sorry, I'm keeping my modded version for now.
Your fix gave me a pulsating part cooling fan, and my 3rd fan (for my board cooling) dissapeared from the menu.

Odd. I compared the two fan PWM settings and the fan sounded/worked exactly the same. Also, USE_CONTROLLER_FAN is not enabled, so you've likely modded more settings beyond the scope of this project.

I managed to get the printer doing what I wanted, so no worries :)
Your project is an excellent starting point for me, and will be perfect for most users.

I’m still working through all the board / fan combos I have here, so I’ll re-test this particular combo. Perhaps there are different revisions beyond the model number and that’s causing it. 🤷‍♂️
