Meet a stakeholder needs (product is solicited)
  • Meet stakeholder needs (solicited project). Funded by the ultimate end-users (e.g., a state agency) or as part of a larger funding opportunity (e.g., BI of an NSF…).
  • Stress ethical considerations required in this situation.
Meet a perceived need (product is not solicited)
  • The researcher risks spenting too much time on the 'aesthetics' and/or perfecting the product, despite lack of demonstrated use or demand.
