Note sur convolution (TD 1)

La convolution $L^p * L^q$ avec $p$ et $q$ conjugués est bien définie (partout - utiliser Hölder). On a vu que la convolée est continue (uniformément, cf. propriétés de continuité uniforme de la translation sur $L^p$, $p$ fini) et bornée. Quand $p$ et $q$ sont finis, on a même la convolée dans $\mathscr{C}_0(\mathbf{R})$. Soient en effet $f$ et $g$ dans $L^p(\mathbf{R})$ et $L^q(\mathbf{R})$, respectivement ; $p$ et $q$ étant finis, on peut approcher $f$ et $g$ par des suites $(f_n)_n$ et $(g_n)_n$ de fonctions à support compact, avec convergence en normes $p$ et $q$, resp. Comme $f * g - f_n * g_n = (f-f_n) * g - f_n * (g-g_n)$, on a

$$ || f * g - f_n * g_n ||_\infty \leq || f-f_n ||_p || g ||_q + || f ||_p || g-g_n ||_q \to 0,\quad n \to \infty. $$

Chaque $f_n * g_n$ étant à support compact (évident) donc dans $\mathscr{C}_0$ qui est fermé dans $L^\infty$, la limite $f * g$ reste dans $\mathscr{C}_0$.
